Florida Hometown Heroes Program Update: What Buyers Need to Know in 2025

Major Changes Coming July 1, 2025
The Florida Housing Finance Corporation has confirmed that starting July 1, 2025, the Hometown Heroes Program will reinstate occupation-specific requirements. That means only certain professions—such as teachers, healthcare workers, law enforcement officers, and military members—will remain eligible. Additionally, funding will not be available exactly on July 1, with a mid-July release expected.
Why You Should Act Now
- Get up to $35,000 in down payment & closing cost assistance
- 0% interest, no monthly payment second mortgage
- Average award: $15,000–$18,000—often enough to cover all upfront costs
- Below-market mortgage rates exclusively for program participants
Funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. In past years, millions were claimed in just the first few days.
